How to Connect AcuRite Weather Station to WiFi?
In the upcoming steps, we’ll have the complete display setup covered. Beforehand, you must make sure that you’ve placed the outdoor sensors in spots suitable to you and that all of the devices are ready to go.
This will only make the WiFi setup of the display easier for you!
Let’s begin with the WiFi setup of your AcuRite display right away!
Step #1 Mount & Turn On the Sensor!
The first step is to make sure you’ve mounted your display and connect it to power. The device must be on so it could discover your WiFi network and connect with it.
- You should also ensure that your sensor is installed outside!
Find a suitable space for your AcuRite Weather Station display (inside of your house) and place it there.
Use the provided wall pins to make the display static and install it on the wall. After that, all you have to do is connect the device to the A/C line using the provided power cable.
The display must be connected to an Electrical Outlet. Using power strips and dividers is not recommended, since it could damage the functionality of the display.
Note: Once the display is connected to the power, it should light up, meaning that it is running!
Step #2 Connect to the Display’s Temporary Network
In order to hook up your display to the WiFi, you must first connect with the device’s temporary network, using your WiFi-compatible device.
It could either be a phone, laptop or PC, as long as it has an adequate WiFi receiver and could connect to the network hosted by the display.
- The WiFi of the AcuRite display will appear as soon as the device begins working!
Here’s how to connect to the display’s temporary network in easy instructions:
- Make sure that the display is mounted, and plugged in!
- Get a WiFi-compatible device to use for the setup.
- Access the Settings of the Wi-Fi-compatible device.
- Press the WiFi button in the settings of the device.
- Scroll down to the “Available Networks” tab.
- Locate the network that begins with “AcuRite”.
- Connect with this network.
Keep in mind that connecting to the display’s temporary WiFi network will restrict the internet to your device. For the rest of the setup, you won’t need an active internet connection anyway.
Note: While connected to the display’s network, you’ll have access to the web setup page.
Step #3 Access the Web Setup Page
Once your device is successfully connected to the AcuRite Weather Station Display, your next step is to gain access to the Web Setup Page.
- The Web Setup Page is only available if you’re connected to the display’s network!
Through the page we’re about to access, you’ll be able to select the permanent WiFi of your AcuRite display and connect it to the internet.
Use the WiFi-compatible device you’ve connected with the display in the previous step, to access this page.
Here’s how to access the Web Setup Page in easy steps:
- Launch an Online Browser.
- Tap the Search Field.
- Type “192.168.4.1”.
- Press the “Search” button.
- Wait for the results to appear.
You won’t need any passwords or usernames to enter the web setup page of your AcuRite display if you’re connected to the device’s network (WiFi). If already connected, keep reading!
Step #4 Setup the Display’s WiFi Credentials
Once you’re at the Web Setup Page, it’s time for our next step – adding the WiFi credentials!
We’ll be switching the network of your display to your personal or household WiFi, to grant internet access to the AcuRite Weather Station display.
All preparations you have to do is make sure that your home router is up and running and that the network is online.
Here’s how to setup the WiFi credentials of your AcuRite display:
- On the next page, press the Wi-Fi Network Name of your router.
- Press the “Save” button.
- Wait for the WiFi indicator of your display to become full.
- Enter the WiFi Password for your home network.
- Press the “Connect” button.
- Wait for the connection to be approved.
In addition to setting up the display’s WiFi credentials, you should also pay attention to the Blue LED on your display.
If the blue light is still blinking, it means that the WiFi setup is going through (repeat the steps above). If the indicator is solid blue, the display is connected.
Note: Sometimes the display could fail to connect the first time, so repeat the steps.
Step #5 Setup “My AcuRite” Account
Once your AcuRite Weather Station display is connected to the WiFi, you’ll be able to create your “My AcuRite” account, that’ll be used to save your settings, features, and preferences.
Although this is optional, it is still highly recommended since you’ll be able to access the settings of your weather station that you’ll usually have no access to, unless you have an account.
Here’s how to set up your AcuRite account in easy steps:
- Make sure that the display is connected to your home’s WiFi.
- Disconnect your phone from the display’s WiFi.
- Connect your phone to the home WiFi.
- Access the App Store of your phone.
- Use the search field to type “My AcuRite” and download the app.
- Launch the application.
- Press the “Register” button.
